Seeing as a new year has rolled around I thought it was time to tweak the blog slightly. Thank you to everyone who gave feedback. I want this blog to be a place where you can visit for inspiration. It's filled with things that inspire me - from design to film to art.
Previously I named some of the posts "bursts of inspiration" - but, really, everything that I featured inspired me in some way, so I've renamed them slightly. I hope this helps you, too.
Also, shortly I will be moving home and I'm in the mood to create a slightly different look so there will be a bit more home.inspiration.
On a slightly different note, I've decided to remove more personal details from the blog. I had a freaky invasion-of-privacy-type moment while I was on maternity leave and so from now I'm going to be a little more careful about what info and images I divulge. To friends and family who visit the blog for updates on what's been going on in my life, I'll be on facebook more regularly.
I'm interested to know what you all think of privacy on the internet, especially when it comes to children. Here's to a great new year. And I always love to hear your comments - so keep them coming in. thank you.

Hmm. Privacy issues. Tricky isn't it? I am really conscious of it and have posted only a couple of family pics online - and they were old and sketchy - and avoid using names. I am also aware that some people might not be who they say they are. I use gut instinct on that score, but yes, I've had some not very nice contact - by way of spam, I think, not targeted contact. But, yes, two blogs I read have started their new year posts this way. It would be good to share a brief version of what happened and how you fixed it. I found that the other blog didn't wish to say either, but for me a techno dork who relies very much on the features of the blog site to lock things down it would be good to know what can be done to better make the sites more secure - even what cautionary things bloggers could do, like me, avoiding names.
Katiecrackernuts - basically a man who I was doing a business transaction with (sounds dodgy, but it wasn't) googled me and then related things back to me about how he knew I had a son, his name, etc, etc. While I don't think there was anything necessarily suspicious or sinister about the man, it made me feel uncomfortable that people had such ready access to my family's personal details (when it's not really their choice to be on the world wide web in that way). So now that I've removed their names and photos where they are easily identifiable, I will continue to use this strategy.
You never can be too careful. I have purposely not included my photo or any other personal photos or details for this matter precisely.
It's a tricky line for me, Suzy, as I'm often in the mag (real living) so I don't mind having a pic on my blog, but it's a different matter for my family.
Oh gosh, I've struggled with this issue too. I really hate that we have to be like this. I commented earlier tonight on Belinda's post (on renovate & decorate) on this topic. I have given it a lot of thought and always take note whether other bloggers talk openly about their lives and show images of their families. I did recently remove the full face images of my daughter... now I'm considering editing out her name too. You are absolutely right that it isn't their choice to be on the web. Thanks for bringing this up.
Hi Lisa, Happy New Year! Yes, it is a tricky situation and Belinda and I had a chat about it. As it so happens we both were thinking it at the same time.
I would love to use pictures of my kids on the site and my blog but don't feel comfortable about it. It has been a hard one to work out - I have been waiting for someone to raise this issue as I don't think many people have thought about it...
Jennifer - a good compromise seems to be use blurred shots. Or if you only use an anon name or just single name, eg, Jennifer, then it's okay to use pics. Unless, of course, you don't envisage any problems.
