I recently moved house and I'm going absolutely crazy re-decorating. Crazy in a good way. I'm loving it. Although, I do tend to get overwhelmed by choice sometimes. And it can be tricky having a partner who actually wants to have a say. It would be sooo much easier if he just said, "whatever you want dear". So I'm head over heels for this combo, I think it's got a touch of Hollywood regency to it, don't you? Anyway, my husband doesn't like the Peacock Green velveteen. He says it's too shiny - reminds him of bedspreads in Holiday Inn-type hotels. Ouch! But looking at the yellow velvet sofa in the David Jimenez house that features in the April 09 issue of real living, I notice that it too is shiny. Can velvet be shiny and not look cheap and nasty? Love to know what you think.

(home.inspiration) Hollywood regency-style fabric combo

Hi natalie Lovely choices. The peacock green and silvery scheme is not dissimilar to Shannon Frickes living room in this months inside out and there are a few shots on her blog. If you look closely at the sofa its a little bit shiny but I think it looks good. You never know looking at Shannon Frickes byron bay house might transport your partner to a new way of thinking about this colour !!
It is actually the exact same fabric Shannon used at her place. I asked her for the details. I LOVE it but my partner is not keen. I even showed him the pic of Shannon's place from Inside Out and while he liked her home, he still wasn't convinced. I have found a similar colour, though, from Mokum. I love the combo with the white and silver.
I think velvet SHOULD look a little shiny. Nothing cheap about it, unless it's in a cheap looking overall setting.
I'm loving the hexagon pattern fabric. Where did you find it?
Ha - that's funny Nat! My hubby said the same thing! But he loves it now...
But at the end of the day - everybody's gotta be happy. Good luck hunting.

Beautiful, beautiful! I think whether it looks 'Holiday Inn' really depends on what you're going to use it on. I love it in Shannon's house too.
We are getting ready to have our house repainted inside and out and I am loving looking at colours and wallpapers. My husband is sticking by his love of white and only white for the interior. I'm hoping for a compromise!
Anonymous - all these fabrics are from Warwick Fabrics. The white with hexagonal shapes also comes in black and navy, from memory.
Shannon - I'm SO glad you said that. It's going to be perfect ammunition for my case of why it looks amazing. I think I've convinced of the colour, now, though. He loves stripes. What is it with men and stripes! n x
Hi Lisa, It's for the sofa, not a hotel bedspread - which I think that's what D is thinking of. Yes, striking the right kind of compromise with partners can be tricky. I have a complete vision of what I want my place to look like but then, as Shannon says, everyone's gotta be happy! x
