(styling.inspiration) jason grant

One of the great treats of returning back to work was meeting real living's new style director Jason Grant. I have admired his work in interior magazines, such as InsideOut, for many years and was thrilled when I heard the news he'd come on board to join our magazine. Of course, you never quite know whether you will get along with someone you've never met before. But I can honestly say that Jason is a super fun, lively and enthusiastic person. It's been a blast getting to know him and I've been equally won over with the shoots he has done for the mag. The "pattern on pattern" feature (the first pic is from that feature) is, not surprisingly given my love of colour, my fave.

Which five words best describe you? Creative, friendly, upbeat, messy, enthusiastic.
What was your first job and what path have you taken since then? Shop boy to style director.
What's your proudest achievement? Becoming a successful editorial stylist.
What's been your best decision? To be true to myself and be creative.
Who inspires you? Anyone with a good measure of creativity, optimisim and imagination.
What are you passionate about? Friends, nature, shopping, animalia (particularly plastic animals) and now since moving to Sydney the beach.
What's the best lesson you've learnt? "All you have to do is just believe."
Which person, living or dead, would you most like to meet? A fabulous dinner party with Heidi Klum, Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Martin and Ray and Arthur Eames.
What dream do you still want to fulfil? I would like to write a book which of course would be filled with images I have helped create, and to stay at Giraffe Manor in Kenya.
What are you reading? The Wonderful Weekend Book, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and blogs blogs blogs.

Nice little write up Jason. I might just bump into you at that giraffe manor in Kenya. Once I've made some money though, so not for a while at least, I've heard it's quite expensive.

Ah, custardbydesign - yes, I love that Jason made country style look contemporary. Very clever injection of modern pieces without taking away charm of country.

Dallas - I agree completely. And I love finding out the path people have taken to get their dream job.
