(book.inspiration) meet me at mike's

Sometimes Girl with a Satchel hits the nail on the head. She did this past week when she said Pip Lincolne from the shop Meet Me At Mike's was the Carrie Bradshaw of craft. Too funny and too true. I've been enjoying Pip's stream of twitter comments at all hours of the day. It does make me wonder, though, how on earth she finds time to knit, crochet, bake... Well, somehow, she does, and Pip has even created the most beautiful, wonderful book - of the same name as her Melbourne shop - Meet Me At Mike's.

Which five words best describe you? Enthusiastic, Nice, Silly, Focussed, Sentimental.
What was your first job and what path have you taken since then? I worked in a Video Store in a Caravan Park in Far North West WA! I have gone on to be a caterer, cafe owner and now shopkeeper and writer!
What’s your proudest achievement? Three extremely great kids - Rin, Max and Ari and an enduring partnership with my guy.
What’s been your best decision? To do the things my way - regardless of popular conception - and follow my crafty instincts.
Who inspires you? My friends and family foremost - but also Ellen De Generes, blogger Loobylu and writer/illustrator Keri Smith.
What are you passionate about? Making things and baking things!
What’s the best lesson you’ve learnt? If you support other people and share your ideas and inspirations great things will happen!
Which person, living or dead, would you most like to meet? Writer Amy Krouse Rosenthal.
What dream do you still want to fulfil? Owning a dinky, vintage shack by the beach - and buying a Kombi too!
What are you reading? Bird by Bird - by Anne Lamott

yep, Pip's totally inspiring... i bought the book the other day & it is SO beautiful! i'm going to start the granny square project which i've read through & doesn't seem too tricky:-) (my mum's a terrific crocheter but she's a lefty so some right-handed instructions are a treat!)

Pip really is the girl of the moment isn't she? She's popping up everywhere. And deservedly so. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on a copy of the book.
