So the latest issue of real living went on sale yesterday. It features two styling shoots I did for the mag. The first was the shopping feature for May - nurseries. I put my hand up for this one as I was excited - and determined - to create cool spaces.
I really wanted to show that you could create a pink girls room (lots of friends say their girls are obsessed with this colour) without it being saccharine sweet. Enter "Pastel Princess" - the last room. I also wanted to do a room with colour - a space that was fun - but still pulled together. This is "Circus Kids" - the second last room. And, finally, I wanted to create a room that I'd be happy to have for Little C - one that was interesting and engaging but with grown-up touches so it didn't scream kids room - this is "Young Explorer" - my favourite of the three looks.
Love to know what you think, and which room you prefer.

Lovely! I really like them all and I'm so glad you created a circus themed room ;)
Love the handmade touches too. Well done. Can't wait to read this mag. I always like seeing kids rooms.
loved the young explorers room, probably because i have two boys!
really like the bike carrier tied the change table detail too.
I love your work here Natalie, like I do every issue!
For some reason, I really love kids rooms, even though I don't have any children myself!
But I love how you have given them a modern cool twist and not the typical frou frou look.
Love it, love it, love it!
Thanks
Sarah :)
The Explorer feature wall of maps is fantastic, something I would love to replicate for the lad at our house! Did you source old maps, or use a wallpaper for this?
Hi Natalie, Lovin your blog and love the kids rooms, they are all absolutely gorgeous, well done... fantastic!!Since I'm a new reader to your blog, I have spent endless hours reading your posts, so full of inspiration and such interesting people, can't get enough!!!looking forward to your next post.
I was drooling over these pages only this morning as I had my coffee. Love the all, but the Young Explorer room is my favorite. Just love it.
Viv - I'm glad you liked the circus themed room. I was really tempted to use the Catherine Martin wallpaper (one I know you like ;-)) but wanted to try a different take on it.
Anglagosj - it's a funny story on the maps because I was all set to print them off (and I did some because I didn't quite have enough) but I was walking around the Life In Style trade fair and saw that wall at the Little House stand. I spoke to the owner and she said I could have her maps. So on Sunday night I returned to collect her maps and used them on my shoot. How generous is that?! And, what can I say, great minds think alike!
Jules & Billy - yep, the explorer room has been the most popular room so far. Poor "pastel princess" - I really thought that would be the most popular as it's the most girly. I think it's hard to see the grey and white stripe which really looked beautiful in reality.
Great work! It's so cute and so beautiful! I love explorer room, it'd be perfect for my godson!
Really lovely, love the circus theme !!! I have just posted a childhood post on my blog, have a look if you get the chance.
I've only recently discovered Real Living (i know, i've obvously been under a rock - or as they otherwise call it baby fog) and love this feature.....given I design nurseries and childrens rooms! Love the circus one!
Imaginative, fresh, loud - just like kids. Well done.
Nat,
It's too hard to choose - they are all lovely. I'm sure that both my children would love any of these rooms - and I would love them too because they are just so tidy!

I just bought it...making a cuppa now.
I think it is too hard to choose. You did a wonderful job styling all of the rooms. Bright, fresh and airy! Well done.
Great job Natalie - Young Explorer is my fave too. Love the really love the industrial feel of it. I just love little boys rooms! Pastel Princess is my second fave - love the rug, it really grounds the room and brings it all together.
Natalie this was one of my fave features in the mag this month! Well done! I love Belinda's touches too! I think the circus kids is my fave. Like Sarah I don't have any kids but totally love kids rooms especially when they are so unique and combine handmade elements like these!
amazing amazing amazing!!
I honestly love them all!!!
I would use the top one and make it girly for a girl... with things like those pom poms and such from the princess look!
xx
Your awesome! I love your style.
Gorgeous! :-D I adore all of the 3 rooms!! But yes, the Explorer room does ultimately take the cake! ;-) Wonderful choice in detail and color combination! Thanks so much for sharing.
